Bishop sees no presidentiable worthy to lead the nation

MANILA, Philippines — As far as Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo is concerned, none of the "visible presidentiables" has the integrity and is worthy enough to lead the nation. In an article posted on the CBCP website, Pabillo said he does not see among the presidential wannabes an honest and upright politician. “As of now, from the names that are being floated, we don’t see anyone who has integrity because we all saw how they became part of the system…they are just playing politics," he said. Those rumored to be running for the top post in the country are Senators Panfilo Lacson, Manuel Roxas II, Manuel Villar, Francis Escudero, Loren Legarda, and Richard Gordon, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Bayani Fernando, Vice President Noli de Castro, and priest-turned-politician Pampanga Gov. Ed Panlilio. Pabillo added that it was clear that none of the aspiring politicians "appears to be inspiring" and “they represent traditional politics." He added that while it is sure that there would be a winner, the question of whether there can be an upright winner "remains dim so far." On this note, Pabillo said he has been “fervently" praying that an alternative leader would enter and win the 2010 presidential derby and that the public “would not choose between two evils – the lesser evil over greater evil." Pabillo also said that they are seeking for honest elections next year, including “deserving" people to be in the race. - Aie B. See, GMANews.TV
