Camacho reiterates wushu election legal

MANILA, Philippines – “The elections were legal." This was the announcement made by former Wushu Federation of the Philippines (WFP) president and now elected secretary-general Julian Camacho regarding their elections held last Saturday. Camacho said that former WFP president Tan Shi Ling was elected president and Bernardo Ong voted as treasurer while the vice-president and chairman will be appointed when the WFP held its national championships from May 22 to 24. But the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) sees otherwise and said that technical violations were committed in the holding of elections by Camacho’s group. Another group led by Tai Lian held their own elections last October 7, 2008. Tan is also the president of the Filipino-Chinese Athletic Federation. Camacho revealed that during his group's elections, 15 of the 29 voting members and six proxies were present at the WFP office inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. Camacho added that the POC sent deputy secretary-general and Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (PASA) president Mark Joseph during the proceedings, which he said was an informal recognition of the elections. – Perry Legaspi, GMANews.TV
