5 areas under signal 1 as 'Crising' keeps strength


MANILA, Philippines - Five areas remained under storm signal no. 1 as tropical depression Crising remained stationary off southern Luzon Thursday afternoon. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Crising was 290 kilometers west of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro as of 2 p.m. Areas under Storm Signal No. 1 include Palawan, Cuyo Island, Calamian Group of Islands, Occidental Mindoro, and Lubang Island. Crising packed maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and is forecast to be 270 km west of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro Friday afternoon. By Saturday afternoon, it is expected to be 260 km west of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. By Sunday afternoon, it is expected to be 250 km west of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro or 240 km north of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Meanwhile, a low pressure area (LPA) was spotted in the vicinity of Albay province. "Residents in low lying areas and near mountain slopes under storm signal no.1 and the rest of Southern Luzon are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides," Pagasa said. - GMANews.TV
