Chavez Jr. also wants a piece of Pacquiao

MANILA, Philippines – It seems everybody wants a piece of Manny Pacquiao. Mexican promoter Fernando Beltran is the latest to line up at the heels of the Filipino boxing star, proposing a fight with unbeaten light middleweight prospect Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Beltran accompanied the young Chavez and former flyweight champion Jorge Arce Sunday (Saturday in Las Vegas) at the Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton fight and saw first hand how the General Santos City native pounded his Englishman opponent in just two rounds on the way to a knockout win. The promoter from Tijuana, Mexico believes the son of Mexican great Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. has a fairly good shot of beating Pacquiao, proposing that the two meet at a catch weight of 151 pounds. Chavez Jr. is unbeaten in 40 fights, 29 of them coming by way of knockout. “If he really feels like he’s Superman the way he does now, then I suggest that he fights Julio Cesar Chavez," said Beltran at ringside. The 23-year old Chavez doesn’t see any problem with that. “I admire Manny so much, it would be a great honor for me to fight him," he said. Chavez beat Luciano Cuello by unanimous decision in his last fight two months ago. - GMANews.TV
