Pacquiao mom faints over son's win vs Hatton

MANILA, Philippines – New IBO light welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao himself confirmed that his mom, Dionisia, lost consciousness after he snatched the crown from British boxing icon Ricky Hatton. "She was too excited. We all know it’s her first time to watch in America," Pacquiao said in Filipino during an interview on GMA’s Showbiz Central on Sunday (Saturday night, US time). Meanwhile, the world’s top pound-for-pound fighter said he and Team Pacquiao just celebrated a victory party with his supporters. Pacquiao finished off Hatton in the second right of their scheduled 12-round tiff at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The victory makes Pacquiao a six-time world champion in five weight divisions and cements his name in boxing history. He now adds Hatton’s International Boxing Organization (IBO) and Ring Magazine junior featherweight crowns to his already impressive list. Pacquiao previously won the WBC lightweight and super-featherweight, IBF super bantamweight, WBC flyweight and Ring Magazine featherweight crowns. - Sophia Dedace, GMANews.TV
