MANILA, Philippines - Caregivers who have been abused and exploited in Ontario, Canada will finally know whom to call.
According to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, the provincial government of Ontario has set up a toll-free hotline (1-866-372-3247) for caregivers who may either want to seek advice on their rights or report cases of abuse and exploitation.
Ontario has also previously proposed a bill regulating its nanny recruitment industry, in the hopes of lessening the chances of foreign caregivers being exploited. [See: Pinoys pin hope on Ontario bill vs abuse of foreign nannies]
