Social security institutions pool funds for the unified ID system

MANILA, Philippines - The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth), the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) will pool funds to bid out the production of the unified multi-purpose ID. In a statement, the GSIS said a memorandum of understanding was signed this week for the use of a single identification system that will get rid of redundant databases. Under the project, the four agencies will adopt a common unified multi-purpose ID card with a common reference number to be issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO). The system is a project of the Arroyo administration under Executive Order No. 420, requiring all government agencies and government-owned and controlled corporations to streamline and harmonize their identification systems through the use of a unified multi-purpose ID. -GMANews.TV
