Streaking Ginebra stakes winning run over Alaska

MANILA, Philippines – Streaking Barangay Ginebra stakes its winning run on the line when it clashes with Alaska Saturday in a Motolite-PBA Fiesta Cup road game at the Albay Astrodome in Legazpi City. The defending champion Kings are currently on a six-game winning streak, a stretch they capped with a big 116-109 drubbing of the Purefoods Giants last week. The run completed a surprising turnaround for the league’s crowd favorite, rising from the bottom of the standings to grab solo third with a 7-5 (win-loss) slate. It also put the Kings in contention for the second outright semifinals seat. The lone provincial game is set at 5:00 p.m., with Alaska hoping to stop Ginebra on its track and avoid ending with the second worst record entering the wildcard phase of the tournament. The Aces currently tally a 4-8 card and are coming off back-to-back losses against San Miguel (91-84) and Burger King (106-88). – GMANews.TV
