'Race for Peace' Tour of Mindanao on June 4


MANILA, Philippines – Twelve teams have signed up for the “Race for Peace" 1st Tour of Mindanao, which speeds off on June 4 in Davao City. The three-day, four-stage race – from June 4 to 7 – will cover 682 kilometers around some of Mindanao’s major cities. Stage one is from Davao City to General Santos City (153 kms), stage two is a 159-kilometer ride from General Santos City to Koronadal City while the third stage will take riders from Koronadal to Cotabato City (130 kms). Stage four is the longest at 240 kms from Cotabato back to Davao City. All teams with six riders each will be racing under the theme “One Track, One Dream, One vision" in the major island down south. Sanctioned by the International Cycling Union-recognized PhilCycling headed by Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham “Bambol" Tolentino, the race will be supervised by PhilCycling vice president for Mindanao Salvador "Jun" Paholio Jr. The Race for Peace-First Tour of Mindanao is the major island’s version of the highly-successful Liquigaz Tour of Luzon (Northern Philippines) and the Padyak Pinoy 2009-Tour of Champions, both of which were sanctioned by PhilCycling. – GMANews.TV
