Disc jockey injured in Zambo Sibugay


ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A disc jockey in the southern province of Zamboanga Sibugay province was shot and wounded by one of two men riding tandem in a motorcycle, police said on Thursday. Harrison Mañalac, a disc jockey of dxXE-FM station in Buug town, was driving his motorcycle en route to the FM station when he was attacked, said Chief Insp. Alex Lorenzo, Zamboanga Sibugay police information officer. Lorenzo said the incident took place at around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in the village of Poblacion in Buug. Lorenzo said the victim was declared out of danger by the attending physician of the St. John Hospital where he was rushed for treatment. “His injury is not life-threatening," Lorenzo said. A report by radio dzRH quoted sources as saying Mañalac was known for hard-hitting commentaries against local officials. Senior Superintendent Federico Castro, the provincial police chief, said probers are still investigating if the incident was related to his Maňalac’sa work. - GMANews.TV
