PBL: Cobra downs Oracle to force rubber match


MANILA, Philippines – Paul Lee scored a career-high 30 points to help Cobra Energy Drink prolong its season in the PBL PG Flex Unity Cup with an 88-80 win over Oracle Residences Thursday at the San Juan Gymnasium. Lee scored 13 of those points in the fourth period as the Energy Warriors stay alive and send the best-of-five semifinals series to a you-or-me showdown on Saturday. The 5-foot-10 University of the East point guard made 16 of his 18 free throws to go with his seven rebounds, eight assists and two steals. He also drained a pivotal three-point basket, 3:33 in the game, then Pari Llagas scored off a putback from a Patrick Cabahug miss with less than two minutes to go giving the Energy Warriors an 84-76 spread. “Paul Lee was spectacular. We maximized by playing small almost the whole game," said Cobra coach Lawrence Chongson. “Wala kaming pinagusapan kung hindi iextend ang series to game five." Patrick Cabahug had 20 points, five rebounds and a block. Llagas also played big in the payoff period adding 16 markers behind a 7-of-11 shooting> He also grabbed 13 rebounds, had two steals and blocked two shots.
