MANILA, Philippines — A book on the history of Ilocos Sur province will be launched at the main lobby of the Ayala Museum in Makati City on May 27 at 7 p.m.

Titled Ilocos Sur: An Illustrated History, the book authored by Ilocos Sur Gov. Deogracias Victor B. Savellano, is in full color and replete with eye-catching illustrations by artist Rene Aranda and Armand "Bim" Bacaltos, senior lecturer at the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts.

With principal research and documentation undertaken by Dr. Maria Luisa Camagay of the University of the Philippines History Department and under the editorial supervision of Ester G. Dipasupil, the attractive coffee table book designed by Benjo Laygo and Nanie Gonzales, is intended to be an informative, easy read not only for Ilocos Sur's young citizens, its primary target, but for those interested in tracing the roots of the province's rich cultural and historical heritage.

A short program will precede the book launch to be attended by prominent Ilocos Sur natives as well as representatives from the province's youth sector, national and local government officials and members of the diplomatic corps. - GMANews.TV
