MANILA, Philippines — Believe it or not: Two teenage waitresses were tagged as the brains behind the robbery and killing of a court sheriff in Silay City in Negros Occidental last week, an online news site reported Wednesday.
Visayan Daily Star (www.visayandailystar.com) said police charged the two and four "henchmen" before the Silay City Prosecutor’s Office Tuesday.
Five of the six are now in custody for the robbery and killing of court sheriff Sergio Tabusares last May 20. They denied any role in the crime. Still at large is a certain "Blondie."
National Bureau of Investigation agents assisted Silay policemen in the arrest of the five suspects on Monday.
Silay police head Superintendent Jerry Bartolome described the minors as aged 14 and 17. He said a witness described the two as waitresses of a videoke in Silay.
He said the two minors used their boyfriends and two others to carry out the plan.
Police identified three of the five arrested suspects as Noel Perez, 21; Rommel de la Cruz, 22; and Marvin Baclay, 19, all fare collectors of passenger utility vehicles.
Bartolome said Perez has a pending arrest warrant for frustrated homicide.
Investigation showed Tabusares, after spending time with his two cousins and a co-worker at the Goldenfields Commercial Complex in Bacolod, stopped for another drink at a videoke bar in Silay, while on his way home to E.B. Magalona town.
The two minors informed their boyfriends that Tabusares had a lot of money.
Bartolome said one of the minors and a male companion accompanied Tabusares in his car on the way to E.B. Magalona, while two others on board a motorcycle followed them.
Tabusares' body was found in his car parked at Crossing Aidsisa in Brgy. Lantad, Silay City, on May 20. He bore a gunshot wound in the head, and injuries on the face.
Recovered from the car were three live ammunition of a .38-caliber revolver and two cellular phones. Tabusares' wallet containing an undetermined amount of cash was missing. - GMANews.TV
