NPC looks into Afuang’s water-pouring antic

MANILA, Philippines — The National Press Club (NPC) on Friday said it was looking into the water-dousing act of tabloid columnist Abner Afuang during a Senate hearing on the ‘Hayden Cam’ sex videos to determine what action to take against him. NPC president Benny Antiporda said he called a meeting among NPC officials because Afuang is a press club member. “Afuang is a member of the NPC and the NPC board will discuss the issue to know what would be their action against Afuang," said Antiporda. Afuang, a former mayor and former police officer, was wearing an NPC identification card when he emptied a bottle of water on cosmetic surgeon Hayden Kho Jr., who was being grilled by senators over his sex videos with actress Katrina Halili and other women. Senator Ma. Ana Consuelo “Jamby" Madrigal, chair of the Senate committee on youth and women, ordered Afuang detained for disrupting the proceedings. Afuang was later charged before a Pasay City court but was out on bail Friday. Antiporda said Afuang could be reprimanded or suspended, but not removed from the membership of the NPC. “Kailangan din nating maiintindihan na ginawa niya ‘yun dahil sa dala ng kanyang emotion nang maisip niya ang kanyang anak [However we should understand what could have triggered him to do such thing. He was thinking only his daughter at that time]," Antiporda said. “We don’t think that it had done was enough to be used as a ground for his removal from the NPC’s membership. - GMANews.TV
