Pinay maid in KSA injured as she jumps off building

MANILA, Philippines - A Filipino household service worker in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) jumped off a three-story building to escape her employers who accused her of stealing their jewelry. Guiyana Kasan, 29, is confined at the female surgical ward of the Royal Commission Medical Center in Yanbu after sustaining multiple fractures in her foiled escape, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday. Kasan told Philippine officials that her employers have wrongfully accused her of stealing jewelry, which she claimed have been given to her. She added that her employers have locked her up in the bathroom for her alleged deed. Consul General Ezzedin Tago requested a Filipino nurses’ group in Yanbu to look for the welfare of maid. "A team from the Consulate is due to visit her shortly," the DFA said in the statement. Yanbu is located some 300 kilometers from Jeddah in western Saudi Arabia. Aside from looking into her health condition, a consular team will look into Kasan’s case, including the possibility of filing a case against her employers for maltreatment. Kasan is scheduled to undergo operation this week, Tago said in his report to the DFA. - Joseph Holandes Ubalde, GMANews.TV
