Tong-its game turns nearly fatal for Davao resident

MANILA, Philippines — A “tong-its" card game following a drinking spree turned nearly fatal for a man after his drinking buddy hacked him last Wednesday in Davao City. Online news site Mindanao Daily Mirror (www.dailymirror.ph) reported that the incident took place in in Lower Ilang in Ilang village in Davao City last Wednesday. Bunawan police identified the victim as Cris Atol and the suspect as Edwin Alimpulos, 37. Investigation showed the two and some friends were having a drinking spree and playing “tong-its" when Atol and Alimpulos began to argue. At the height of the verbal tussle, Alimpulos got an ax and hacked Atol in the head. A village policeman who saw the incident immediately arrested the suspect and brought the victim to Davao Medical Center. - GMANews.TV
