Belo denies any role in upload of Halili video

MANILA, Philippines – Dr. Vicki Belo denied on Thursday the claim of an Internet cafe owner that she was behind the uploading of the sex videos of Dr. Hayden Kho on the Internet with different women, including actress Katrina Halili. It was the first time that Belo answered the accusation against her by Erik Chua, a former friend of Kho, since returning from Europe last Tuesday, according to GMA News reporter Mariz Umali. Since the case was already in court, Belo asked her lawyer Adel Tamano to speak on her behalf. Tamano said his client had no motive and would not benefit if she ordered the circulation of the videos. He explained in GMA’s primetime news "24 Oras": “Who will be damaged by these videos? One of the people who will be damaged is Dr Kho, someone that Dra. Belo cares about. Katrina Halili, someone who is an endorser of her business, someone who she kept as an endorser. Mind you, even now she is filing cases against Dra. Belo. Bakit yung Dra. Belo, i-a-upload ang mga videos? Para makita ng buong mundo na binabastos siya, pinapahiya siya? Bakit nya gagawin yun? So doon pa lang it doesn’t make any sense." Belo said her lawyers decided to file a supplemental affidavit before the National Bureau of Investigation to belie Chua’s allegation. In his affidavit, Chua said the celebrity doctor asked him to give her a copy of the sex videos before destroying the file in the computer hard drive they retrieved from Kho's house. Chua added that Belo was present while he was copying the videos up to the time they erased the files. He said that everything was done in Belo’s house. But Tamano insisted that his client left the house earlier, while Chua and his friend stayed for more than an hour. He said a logbook would prove who is telling the truth. In an affidavit, a security guard named Rolly Canonoy said that Belo left the house at around 7:25 p.m., while Chua and his friend left around 8.55 pm. “One hour is an hour that he could have done so many things," Tamano said. "He could have downloaded the videos, he could even go to a computer if there’s wi-fi and he could have uploaded the videos to the Internet. I don’t know what happened, but the point is, two things: It’s not just the opportunity to do these things. To me, the bigger point really is the fact that he is not telling the truth." GMA News tried to get Chua’s reaction, but in a text message, he said that he had been advised by his lawyer to refrain from making any statement to the media because a case had already been filed against him by Halili. The report added that Dr. Herbert “Bistek" Rosario was more likely to have a greater motivation to upload the videos because of rumors that Kho had been having a relationship with Rosario’s girlfriend. Belo was no longer interested in finding out who uploaded the videos, but wanted to give justice to the victims and penalize those who violated the law, according to the report. Meanwhile, Tamano said he believed that Belo had already forgiven Katrina, and she continued to give moral support to Kho. - Fidel Jimenez, GMANews.TV
