MANILA, Philippines - Former national team star Antonio Asistio III carded a one-under-par 70 to grab a share of seventh place in the 80th Southeastern Amateur Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at the Country Club of Columbus in Georgia.
With this output, Asistio hiked his total to six-under 207, trailing by seven strokes leader Derek Chang, who was at 13-under 200.
Asistio, who saw action for the Philippines in the Putra Cup in Singapore last year, waxed hot in the first four holes by holing three birdies. He bogeyed the par-3 fifth to go two-under at the turn. He then bogeyed two of the last three for that 70.
Asistio, who shot earlier rounds of 69 and 68, was tied with Alabama’s Glenn Northcutt entering the final round.
Countryman Rufino Bayron was tied for ninth after a 68, on nines of 34-34, for a 208. He opened with an even 71 then followed with a 69 on the next. With him at the No. 9 spot was local bet Lee Knox. – GMANews.TV
