Lozada caught playing golf; Senate to reassess his security detail

MANILA, Philippines -The Senate is set to reassess the security personnel detailed to Rodolfo Noel Lozada Jr after Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile learned that the guards accompany the NBN-ZTE whistleblower even while playing golf. Enrile said he has asked Senate Sergeant-at-arms Jose Balajadia to give him a report on Lozada who has dropped out of public view after the perjury case filed against him by Mike Defensor was withdrawn. The Senate provides security to Lozada after government personnel allegedly tried to hide him when he expressed readiness to tell all on the $329-million national broad band project deal between the government and China's ZTE Corporation. "I want a report, I want a re-assessment, if there is still a possible threat to this people given a security. We cannot maintain the security forever," Enrile told reporters. He said if Lozada is already playing golf then it could mean that there is no longer a threat to the latter's life. "If there is no immediate threat to his life (then we can remove the security personnel assigned to him but) if there is a threat, we will make it (security) forever as he acted for the Senate," Enrile said. - Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV
