Maria Sharapova loses to Gisela Dulko at Wimbledon

WIMBLEDON, England — Maria Sharapova has lost in the second round at Wimbledon to Gisela Dulko, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Sharapova was playing in her fourth tournament since rejoining the tour last month following shoulder surgery in October. The 2004 champion was eliminated in the second round for the second year in a row. The 24th-seeded Sharapova struggled with her forehand Wednesday and repeatedly lost points when forced to run forward for drop shots. Dulko closed out the victory when Sharapova sailed a forehand long. Dulko, ranked 45th, had won a total of only three games in two previous matches against Sharapova. The Argentine matched her best showing at Wimbledon by reaching the third round. – AP
