Liz Taylor, Paul McCartney mourn Jackson's death

MANILA, Philippines – The legendary screen icon who crowned Michael Jackson with the royal title “King of Pop" finally broke her silence on the death of the person she said would live in her heart forever. Dame Elizabeth Taylor, who was initially "too devastated" to comment on Jackson’s death, said that she could not imagine life without him and that her life felt so empty with his passing. "My heart…my mind…are broken. I loved Michael with all my soul and I can’t imagine life without him. We had so much in common and we had such loving fun together," she said in a statement on her Twitter account. Jackson, 50 years old, passed away last Friday (US time) in Los Angeles, California. Taylor said she was packing her bags to London when she learned of the sad news. Taylor was bound for the United Kingdom for Jackson’s comeback tour in July. At the height of his fame, Jackson was among the world’s most beloved figures. Heads of state clamored to meet him and cultural icons, like Taylor, were among his close friends. Taylor described their affection with each other as: “I don't think anyone knew how much we loved each other. The purest, most giving love I've ever known." She added that she kept looking at the photo Jackson gave her, where he wrote: “To my true love, Elizabeth, I love you forever." Musical collaborator Meanwhile, Sir Paul McCartney of The Beatles also paid tribute to the King of Pop. The two had collaborated on the songs “Say Say Say" and “The Girl is Mine." “I feel privileged to have hung out and worked with Michael. He was a massively talented boy-man with a gentle soul. His music will be remembered forever and my memories of our time together will be happy ones," he said in statement posted on his Web site. “I send my deepest sympathy to his mother and the whole family and to his countless fans all around the world," he added. - Sophia Dedace, GMANews.TV
