Razon: Talks with Manila folk for mayoral bid 'encouraging'

MANILA, Philippines - Citing the “warm" reception he has received from Manila residents so far, presidential peace process adviser Avelino Razon Jr said Monday he is even more encouraged to run for mayor of Manila in 2010. Razon, who had served as Manila police chief, said in a radio interview his initial talks with some Manila residents showed Manila folk have so far been receptive to his political plan. “Yan ay ating pinag-iisipan at mag-uusap tayo sa ating kapwa Manilenyo. At base sa indikasyon at pagtanggap ng mga Manilenyo, e pagdating ng takdang panahon itutuloy natin ang pag-file ng kandidatura for mayor of Manila [I have been thinking about it, and I have talked to some Manila residents about it. The initial feedback has so far encouraged me to file my certificate of candidacy for mayorship of Manila when the time comes]," he said in an interview on dzXL radio. "I have been getting good feedback and this has encouraged me to ... see what is good for Manila residents," he added. However, he did not name the Manila residents he had talked to regarding his prospective mayoralty bid. Razon is among the Cabinet officials rumored to resign by November so they can run in the 2010 elections. - GMANews.TV
