EO na magpapababa sa presyo ng gamot ipalabas na - solon

MANILA – Inakusahan ni Senador Manuel Roxas II nitong Huwebes si Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo na nakikipagsabwatan at ilang multinational pharmaceutical companies upang hindi maipatupad ang ipinasang batas na magpapababa sa presyo ng mga gamot sa bansa.

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni Roxas II na lihim na nakipagpulong si Gng Arroyo sa ilang matataas na opisyal ng multinational pharma sa Malacanang kamakailan upang pigilin ang implementasyon ng Cheaper Medicine Act.

“Sa meeting nila, napagkasunduan na ipagpaliban muna ang EO (executive order) na magpapataw ng Maximum Retail Price (MRP) sa mga gamot. Ang kapalit, gagawa ng paraan ang big pharma companies na ibaba ang presyo ng gamot bago sumapit ang SONA ni GMA (Arroyo) sa July 28," ayon sa senador.

Sinabi ni Roxas na nakatakda sanang ipalabas ang executive order para sa maximum retail price ng 22 pangunahing gamot na isinumite ng Department of Health (DOH) kay Arroyo noong pang Hunyo 16.

Layunin ng MRP na bawasan nang kalahati ang presyo ng gamot para sa malubhang sakit na halos hindi na kayang abutin ng mga mahihirap na pasyente.

Kabilang sa gamot na isasama sa listahan ng MRP ang anti-hypertensive drug na Norvasc na gagawing P22.50 mula sa dating P44.50; anti-diabetic, Diamicron, P7.35 mula sa dating P14.75; anti-biotic Zithromax, P149.37 mula sa dating P298.75; at antibiotic Augmentin suspension 60 ml, P179.50 mula P359.

“Sa meeting na iyon, nandoon daw ang Secretary of Health. Tinatanong kita, Secretary (Francisco) Duque, bakit hindi ka umalma sa kuntsabahang nasaksihan mo sa pagpupulong na iyon?" ayon kay Roxas.

“I believe that this conspiracy was engineered with the facilitation of an influential Presidential Adviser who is also connected with one of the multinational pharmaceutical giants," bintang ng mambabatas.

Dahil dito, hinamon ni Roxas si Arroyo na lagdaan ang EO para sa MRP at itigil ang isinasagawang konsultasyon sa mga pharmaceutical firms. Nais din nito na isama sa listahan ng MRP ang Tamiflu, gamot laban sa kumakalat na A(H1N1) virus na nagkakahalaga ng P150 bawat tableta. - GMANews.TV
