Ric Alo and Danny delos Santos used a wide variety of shots against the soggy fairways to finish as joint leaders with one-over-par 73 each in the rain-hit inaugural Philippine Senior Golf Tour at the Villamor Golf Club in Pasay City.
Alo and Delos Santos struggled in the early goings as both fought off the muddy conditions of the course, which prompted the tournament organizer to declare the preferred lie format (mark, lift, clean and replace).
Still, both senior stars compiled the best scores of the day as they gun for the top purse in the P200,000 tournament specifically for the senior golfers in the country.
Rey Alit, newly-installed president of the Philippine Senior Golf Tour Association, stood close behind with a two-over 74 for third. At fourth was Ruben Dizon with a 75. Danny Fortusa made a 76 to complete the top five.
