Marcoses' prayers for Cory sincere - Kris
Television and movie personality Kris Aquino on Sunday hinted of a possible reconciliation with the Marcoses when she noted the "sincerity" in the prayers they offered for her mother, the late former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino. âThank you for the Marcoses for praying for mom. I feel the sincerity," she told co-host Boy Abunda in an interview on âThe Buzz." Kris said that during one of her last conversations with Mrs. Aquino, the late democracy icon asked her to relay to her political enemies that she had already forgiven them. âSabi ko gusto mo sabihin ko na lahat ng nakaaway sa pulitika pinapatawad mo na (I asked her if she wants me to tell her political enemies that they are already forgiven), she said yes," Mrs. Aquinoâs youngest daughter said. Mrs. Aquino, who died Saturday morning after more than a year of battling colon cancer, led the historic EDSA People Power revolt in 1986 that led to the downfall of the Marcos dictatorship. Last Wednesday, while Mrs. Aquino was still fighting for her life at the Makati Medical Center, the Marcoses through Ilocos Rep. Ferdinand âBongbong" Marcos Jr. offered prayers to the Aquino family. âOur thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Aquino and her family in this difficult moment. I know how her family feels because we also went through the same experience with my father," Rep. Marcos said in a statement. For her part, Imelda Marcos, widow of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos Sr., said she was happy to learn that the Aquinos had acknowledged their offered prayers. âNatutuwa naman ako na she (Kris) acknowledged that we are sincere (Iâm happy that Kris acknowledged our familyâs sincerity)," Mrs. Marcos said in an interview aired on â24 Oras Special Edition" Sunday night. She added that she is continuously praying that the two clans would finally reconcile for the benefit of the nation. âSapagkat kapag nagkaisa ang dalawang pamilyang ito ay milagro ang dadating sa sambayanan (When these two families reconcile, there will be a miracle for all Filipinos)," she said. - GMANews.TV
