Suspect in slay of former Quezon town mayor falls

Police operatives arrested Sunday one of two suspects in the killing of a former town mayor in Quezon province, authorities said Monday. A report to Calabarzon Police Regional head Chief Superintendent Perfecto Palad said that Adorico De Sagun Ebora, 38, a resident of barangay Libato in San Juan town in Batangas, was arrested in barangay Sampaga in Batangas City last August 2 by Task Force Emralino. Former mayor David Emralino of Candelaria town was killed last July 26 in front of the San Pedro Bautista Church in Poblacion, Candelaria. Reports said Emralino had just come out from the Church at 10:30 a.m. when two gunmen attacked him. In his report to Palad, Senior Superintendent Elmo Francis Sarona, officer-in-charge of the Quezon Police Provincial Office (PPO), said Ebora’s record showed a string of criminal cases of murder and frustrated murder. Ebora’s arrest was a result of almost a week of relentless surveillance operations by Quezon police operatives under the supervision of Sarona. According to Sarona, the suspect was positively identified by two witnesses. The suspect is now detained at Camp Nakar in Lucena City for the filing of appropriate charges. - GMANews.TV
