Noynoy sees ‘hard times ahead’ without mom Cory

Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III on Monday said he is bracing himself for "hard times ahead" now that he has lost his mother, former President Corazon Aquino. "I'm sure a lot of difficult times are ahead. I will be in a house that used to home two parents and four siblings, plus seven nephews and nieces and (then) suddenly it's quiet," he told reporters at the Manila Cathedral on Monday. The senator said their kitchen, which used to be a cheerful place, has been enveloped with gloom since his mother's death last Saturday due to cardiorespiratory arrest. He said the kitchen was one of his mother's most favorite places in their house. "My mother is a very, very good cook. We have a lot of good memories in the kitchen," said Noynoy. Mrs. Aquino, the country's first woman president, was diagnosed with colon cancer March last year. Noynoy said they have already accepted the reality of their mother's passing. "We've had quite a long time rin naman to start preparing ourselves. This is cancer, cancer does not have a cure, you can only go into remission," he said. From La Salle Greenhills in Mandaluyong City, Mrs. Aquino’s remains were brought to the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros on Monday where overnight vigils and requiem Masses are scheduled. A necrological Mass will be held Tuesday night. After a 9 a.m. Mass Wednesday, Mrs. Aquino’s body will be brought to the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque for interment. Noynoy said his mother would be buried beside the remains of his father, the late Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., who was assassinated upon his arrival in Manila from the United States on August 21, 1983. - GMANews.TV
