Junior powerlifter Llena breaks 3 national records in RP open

Patricia Llena broke three national records in the National Open Powerlifting Championships – including the women's sub-junior, junior and Open – at the Robinsons Mall in Otis, Manila. The “superwoman" Llena, already a power-lifting sensation at 15 years old, dominated the field in the 60kg category with three new marks after a lift of 170.5kg. Minutes after, Llena raised 77.5kg in the bench-press event to set-up the latest sub-junior and junior records in the tournament organized by the Powerlifting Association of the Philippines. Llena did not stop there and added another record-breaking feat when she smashed the deadlift record in the sub-junior, junior and Open events with a 175.7kg lift, the strongest by any Filipina powerlifter in the 60kg category. Both her squat and deadlift efforts, however, are unofficial Asian sub-junior records. Llena thus shattered the 13-year-old RP Open records of veteran powerlifter Lily Pecante in the squat, deadlift and total. Pecante set the 60Kg records in squat (160kg), deadlift (70kg) and total (400kg) in 1996 when she was 32 years old. – Adrian Flores, GMANews.TV
