Filipinos still flock to Cory tomb 1 week after burial

A week after former President Corazon Aquino was laid to rest, Filipinos continued to flock to the cemetery where she was buried to pay their last respects. Radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported that as of Wednesday, dozens still continue to visit the Aquinos’ mausoleum at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City. Some of those who went to the mausoleum paused to say a prayer, while others lighted candles or left flowers. Cemetery security personnel said "50 to 100" people a day would visit Mrs. Aquino’s tomb beside that of her husband, former Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. The report said the number of people visiting the mausoleum prompted the Southern Police District and Parañaque police to deploy patrol units to keep watch over the area. Mrs. Aquino, who was swept to power in a peaceful revolution in 1986 after her husband was assassinated in 1983, died August 1 due to cardiorespiratory arrest. She was diagnosed with colon cancer March 2008. Mrs. Aquino was buried last August 5. - GMANews.TV
