Arroyo to visit Pampanga... again

President Gloria Arroyo will visit her home province of Pampanga Wednesday, this time for a road concreting project in Santa Rita town. If it pushes through, it will be her 23rd visit to Pampanga in six months, fueling suspicions that she is building a constituency for a possible congressional bid after she steps down from office next year. Santa Rita is in the province's second district, where Mrs. Arroyo is rumored to be planning to run for congresswoman in next year's election. A Malacañang statement said Mrs. Arroyo would visit the town to inspect a proposed road concreting project that aims to address soil erosion and prevent flooding in the area. Mrs. Arroyo's critics had accused her of planning to run for congresswoman while her allies in Congress amend the Constitution to shift to a parliamentary form of government. Under a parliamentary form of government, she can then run for Prime Minister. Expected to join Mrs. Arroyo for the event are Sta. Rita Mayor Yolanda Pineda, presidential son and Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel Arroyo, San Juan Barangay Captain Abelardo Dimabuyu, and Philippine National Police Pampanga Director Senior Superintendent Gil Lebin. - GMANews.TV
