Pagasa keeps watch over low-pressure area

State weather forecasters are monitoring a new low-pressure area (LPA) that they said may bring rainshowers and thunderstorms to Northern and Central Luzon. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) did not immediately say if the LPA will intensify into a cyclone. "Northern and Central Luzon and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," Pagasa said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. Should the disturbance become a cyclone, it will be named "Labuyo," Pagasa forecasters had said earlier. It said, the LPA was estimated at 1,140 km east-northeast of Batanes as of 2 a.m. Thursday. - GMANews.TV
