Arroyo declares Sept 12 as day of prayer

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has declared Sept. 12 as a National Day of Prayer for Peace and Sanctification of Spiritual Leaders, Malacañang said Wednesday. But a Palace statement said the occasion, which was declared through Proclamation 1869, is a regular working day. "There is a need to pray for grace for the sanctification of our spiritual leaders to enable them to inspire and set a compassionate and moral leadership among our people," Mrs. Arroyo said. She said that with the many challenges the nation faces, Filipinos should set aside their differences and join hands to work towards the common good. A day devoted to prayer for peace and unity and sanctification of spiritual leaders may serve to further these goals, she added. - GMANews.TV
