Expect more rains in RP as 'Labuyo' exits to Japan - Pagasa

More rains loom over parts of Luzon and Visayas even as tropical storm "Labuyo" (Dujuan) continues to move towards Southern Japan, state weather forecasters said Saturday. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said "Labuyo" was estimated at 930 kms east-northeast of Tuguegarao City as of 4 a.m. "Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience monsoon rains. The rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms," it said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. It added "Labuyo" packed maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph, and is forecast to move northeast at 13 kph. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the Northeast to Northwest with slight to moderate seas except during thunderstorms. Pagasa said "Labuyo" expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and bring occasional to frequent rains over Luzon and Visayas particularly the western sections. Meanwhile, strong winds associated with the southwest monsoon enhanced by "Labuyo" will affect the seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. "Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves," it said. - GMANews.TV
