Priest killed in ambush in Northern Samar

A parish priest in Northern Samar was ambushed early Sunday morning as he was heading home from a wedding, a Church official said.

Fr. Cecilio Lucero, parish priest of Catubig town in Northern Samar, was killed after unidentified men attacked him at 8:30 a.m. in San Jose, two towns away from his locale.

In an interview on dzBB radio, Bishop Emmanuel Trance of the diocese of Catarman in Samar indicated that Lucero’s involvement in human rights cases in his area might be one of the motives for the killing. - Melissa de los Santos, GMANews.TV
