Schools outside Metro Manila top electrical engineers' exam


Schools outside Metro Manila dominated the list of topnotchers of the September 2009 Electrical Engineering Licensure Examination, results of the test released by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) on Thursday showed.

TOP 10 PASSERS


The top 10 passers of the September 2009 Electrical Engineering Licensure Exams are the following: 1. Eruell Camus Obina of Camarines Norte State College-Daet, 90.75 percent; 2. Noel Tuzo Arreza of Mindanao State University-Marawi City, 89.30 percent; 3. Marwin Timbol Pangilinan of Holy Angel University in Pampanga, 89 percent; 4. Richard Macatangay Guba of University of Batangas, 88.90 percent; 5. Roldan Principe Lualhati of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta. Mesa, Manila, 88.45 percent; 6. Jesus Colita Rupinta of the Technological Institute of the Philippines-Manila, 88.35 percent; 7. Emilyn Mae Sicat Matibag of the University of Batangas, 88.15 percent; 8. Joonie Magpantay Valencia, Batangas State University - Batangas City, 87.60 percent; 9. Eddy Jose Yaba Managuit of Camarines Norte State College-Daet, 87.20 percent; and 10. John Paul Palma Cua of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños, 87.10 percent.
Topping the list of passers was Eruell Obina of the Camarines Norte State College, who scored of 90.75 percent. Noel Arreza of the Mindanao State University in Marawi City was 2nd with a score 89.30 percent, followed by Marwin Pangilinan of Holy Angel University in Pampanga, 89 percent. According to the PRC, out of 2,613 examinees who took the exam for Registered Electrical Engineers, 1,101 passed, for a passing rate of 42 percent.

A total of 429 out of 1,476 who took the exam for Registered Master Electricians also made it, for a 29 percent passing rate. Nine registered electrical engineers who took the exam for Professional Electrical Engineers also passed. The licensure tests were given simultaneously by the Board of Electrical Engineering in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi and Zamboanga on Sept. 12 and 13 2009. The results of examination of seven examinees were withheld pending final determination of their liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examination, said the PRC. The members of the Board of Electrical Engineering who gave the licensure examinations were engineers Rodolfo R. Peñalosa, chairman (on leave); Edward L. Mendoza and Jaime V. Mendoza, members. In a statement, the PRC said registration for the issuance of professional identification card (ID) and certificate of registration will start on Sept. 28, 2009 but not later than Oct. 26, 2009. To register, passers are required to bring the following: • duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, • current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), • 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), • 1 piece 1" x 1" picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), • 2 sets of metered documentary stamps, and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession; and • to pay the initial registration fee of P600 and annual registration fee of P450 for 2009-2012 for registered electrical engineers; initial registration fee of P450 and annual registration fee of P420 for 2009-2012 for registered master electriciand. Successful examinees are required to personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals. The oathtaking ceremony of the successful examinees, as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional, will be held before the Board on Nov. 4, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City. As mandated by law, all passers of the exam are required to register for membership with the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE) starting September 28, 2009, the PRC said.. The IIEE is the only Electrical Professional Association accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission. Top performing schools In the PRC’s list, out of 151 schools that participated iun the REE exams, only three qualified for the top performing schools category (with at least 80% passing percentage) for those with 10 to 25 examinees. These are the University of Batangas, all 16 examinees passed; UPLB, 15 passers out of 16 takers, 94 %; Central Visayas State C.A.F.T-Tagbilaran, 22 passers out of 25 takers, 88%. For schools with 26-50 examinees, only the University of Eastern Philippines-Catarman was considered a top performer, with 25 out of 28 takers, 89%. None of the schools that produced the takers for the RME exam qualified as top performers. - GMANews.TV
