Magnitude-5.4 quake rocks parts of Mindanao


Hours after a magnitude-6.1 quake rocked Manila and other parts of Luzon, a magnitude-5.4 quake rocked parts of Mindanao Friday night. The United States Geological Service (USGS) said the quake was recorded at 7:53 p.m., with the epicenter traced 70 kilometers (km) northwest of General Santos City. It said the epicenter was also 95 km south-southeast of Cotabato, 120 km west-southwest of Davao, or 990 km south-southeast of Manila. There was no initial report of casualty or damage. Earlier, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said a magnitude-6.1 tectonic quake occurred 93 km southwest of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro at 2:24 p.m. The quake was felt at Intensity IV in Mamburao; Batangas City; Boac, Marinduque; Coron, Palawan; and San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. It was felt at Intensity III in Makati, Pasay, Manila, Tagaytay Cities; Lucban in Quezon; Dasmariñas in Cavite; and Lubang in Occidental Mindoro. It was felt at Intensity II in Guinayangan, Quezon; Calapan and Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro; and Malay in Aklan. - GMANews.TV
