Deaf-mute witness helps nab suspects in Capiz rob-slay case

A deaf-mute witness has turned out to be the key in solving the robbing and murder of a 64-year-old businesswoman in Capiz province. Using sign language, the witness helped police identify and pin down three of at least four suspects in the crime, according to a report on The News Today (www.thenewstoday.info). Police arrested the three Thursday, nearly a week after the killing of Noeme Sunsona, 64, in Purok 1, Brgy. Libas in Roxas City last Friday. The suspects were identified as Ferdinand Amaller, 51; Pablo Bacanto, 27; Beltran Enoslay, all of Roxas City. Enoslay, who is a relative and a former driver of the victim, is a brother-in-law of Bacanto. One suspect is still the subject of manhunt operation by the police. Last Friday, Sunsona was found dead at her house with stab wounds in different parts of her body. Her family said some P500,000 cash and P200,000 worth of jewelry were missing. Libas village captain Solomon Alisasis said a deaf-mute witness saw the suspects and described them to the police through sign language. Alisasis said the witness saw the suspects emerge from the scene of the incident at around 2 a.m. last Friday. In a follow-up operation, police recovered some of the cash and jewelry. Recovered from the house of Enoslay were P20,000 cash; four gold necklaces with pendant; five silver necklaces; seven gold bracelets; six silver bracelets; two gold ladies wristwatch; two gold men’s rings; six gold ladies rings; four gold ladies rings and assorted gold rings and a jacket with bloodstains. Police are now readying robbery and homicide cases against the suspects. - GMANews.TV
