Pagasa tracks new weather disturbance

State weather forecasters are keeping tabs on a shallow low-pressure area (SLPA) that may bring rains to parts of the country. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the SLPA was estimated at 700 km east-northeast of Northern Luzon as of 2 a.m. Sunday. In its 5 a.m. bulletin, Pagasa also noted a wind convergence affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. "Extreme Northern and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said. Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over Eastern Luzon and coming from the southwest over the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao with moderate to occasionally rough seas, it added. Light to moderate winds blowing from the northwest to southwest will prevail over the rest of Luzon and Visayas and coming from the southwest over the rest of Mindanao with slight to moderate seas except during thunderstorms. - GMANews.TV
