Lacson to bare Erap child’s jueteng links in 2nd privilege speech

One week after exposing the alleged abuses of former President Joseph Estrada during his presidency, Senator Panfilo Lacson will bare this coming Tuesday the involvement of one of the former leader's children in jueteng operations. In a radio interview, Lacson said he would name the child in the second part of his privilege speech. He declined to give further details. “Oo, mababanggit din [sa privilege speech]. Itago natin sa pangalang Junior (It will be part of my privilege speech this coming Tuesday. For now I will not identify the younger Estrada)," he said. Estrada had denied the accusations made by Lacson, who served as Philippine National Police (PNP) under his administration. Last September 14, Lacson said in his privilege speech that their differences over jueteng had prompted Estrada to relegate him to the proverbial doghouse in the second part of 2000. He said that when he refused to allow jueteng operations and collections, Estrada began to bypass him and even looked for a legal basis to oust him as PNP chief. Meanwhile, Lacson said he is still collating information on the disappearance and death of Edgar Bentain, the casino employee who helped make public a casino security video of Estrada playing baccarat at the Heritage Hotel in 1996. The tape found its way to the hands of known Estrada critic Manuel Morato, who used it against Estrada in the 1998 presidential campaign. Bentain disappeared after leaving work at the casino in September 1999. “Medyo kulang-kulang pa ang information. Kino-collate ko ang information, pinagdudugtong-dugtong ko para makabuo ng sapat na information (The information is still incomplete, I’m still collating other reports)," Lacson said. - GMANews.TV
