Plot to discredit Noynoy, Mar being laid out - LP spokesman says

A plot is being laid out to discredit Liberal Party standard bearers Benigno Simeon “Noynoy" Aquino and Manuel “Mar" Roxas II, according to LP spokesman and Quezon Rep. Lorenzo “Erin" Tañada. Tañada says part of the plot is the dissemination of misleading information to media, like the recent news claiming that Roxas had defended President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo when an impeachment complaint was filed against her in 2005. “It’s another lie. The lying, cheating, and stealing machinery is now working to counter the tandem for truth, honesty and transparency," said Tañada of the recent remarks made by Agusan Rep. Rodolfo Plaza and Iloilo Vice Gov. Rolex Suplico. Plaza of the Nationalist People’s Coalition and Suplico of the Nacionalista Party had criticized Roxas for allegedly taking the cudgels for Mrs. Arroyo when she was slapped with an impeachment complaint in June 2005 in relation to the alleged fraud during the 2004 presidential elections. “Where was Mar Roxas when the country needed him most during the impeachment case against President Arroyo? He did not take a position and remained silent. He was sleeping with his devil and now he is claiming that the fight (elections) is about wrong and illegal," Plaza was quoted by a broadsheet on Thursday as saying. “He (Roxas) is now against the government because he is running for higher position," added Plaza. Suplico said that it was “also the LP House (of Representatives) contingent (that) defended Mrs. Arroyo during the first impeachment." “LP officials have occupied Cabinet positions. LP stalwarts were also involved in the new Iloilo airport scandal. Look who’s talking," Suplico added. Tañada said the public should be cautioned against “persons with flowery words." “More often than not, they forget the truth. The campaign is almost here, and we know that such deception and twisting of the truth will come out against our candidate. Traditional campaign machinery really work that way," he said. - GMANews.TV
