La Salle-Ateneo UAAP jrs finals showdown postponed to Tuesday

Fans of La Salle and Ateneo will have to wait for three more days to witness the anticipated UAAP juniors’ basketball championship showdown between the Junior Archers and the defending champion Blue Eaglets.

This as the UAAP postponed Saturday’s start of the championship series between Ateneo and La Salle-Zobel in the juniors and the Far Eastern U-Adamson tussle in the women’s division due to tropical storm "Ondoy" that inundated several parts of Metro Manila.

Tournament director Mark Molina said Game One of the two series will instead be played on Tuesday in the same venue, The Arena in San Juan.

According to him, the Lady Tams-Lady Falcons will be played at 2 p.m. followed by the green and blue matchup between the Junior Archers and the Eaglets at 4 p.m.

The Junior Archers, who finished No. 1 at the end of the eliminations with a 12-2 card, advanced to the finals by disposing of No. 4 Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Educational Foundation (FEU-FERN), 86-69.

For their part, the Eaglets (No. 3 with 10-4) had to overhaul the No. 2 Tiger Cubs’ twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four (72-66 and 73-68) to secure a finals berth against the Junior Archers. - GMANews.TV
