Report: Bicol bus firms cancel trips

Citing the bad conditions of roads to their destinations, bus firms in the Bicol region canceled Monday trips to other areas in southern Luzon, a radio report said. Radio dzXL reported the bus firms were wary of the condition of the roads leading to areas such as Quezon and Batangas in southern Luzon. The report said bus company officials explained to passengers their reasons for calling off the trips. Several roads to southern Luzon were deemed hazardous due to scouring or mud, the report said. Bus firms have been under government scrutiny since last August, following a series of deadly bus-related accidents. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo had ordered authorities to keep tabs on reckless bus drivers. - GMANews.TV
