Pacquiao donates P1M to 'Ondoy' victims

The “Pambansang Kamao" is lending a helping hand to fellow Filipinos badly affected by the deadly tropical storm “Ondoy." Through his MP Foundation, Manny Pacquiao is donating P1 million to the GMA Kapuso Foundation in support of ongoing aid efforts for the victims of “Ondoy" which has left over 200 people dead, a hundred more missing and thousands homeless. “Ako’y nakikiramay sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo at yung mga naulila na pamilya. Kaya po nagbigay ako ng P1 million sa Kapuso Foundation para makatulong po at magbibigay kami ng bigas, noodles, mga relief goods," Pacquiao said in an interview with 24 Oras Tuesday. Despite being busy getting in shape for his Nov. 14 showdown with Puerto Rican champ Miguel Cotto, Pacquiao plans to descend from his training camp in Baguio City to personally distribute relief goods to “Ondoy" victims while taking his usual Sunday break.

Sa lahat ng kababayan kong Filipino, sana po huwag kayong makalimot magdasal sa Panginoon at malalampasan natin ang pagsubok na dinadanas natin sa buhay natin.
– Manny Pacquiao
“Try ko po by Sunday, wala akong training noon, yung Team Pacquiao po mamimigay (relief goods), pupunta po sa Manila siguro," he said. To those hit by “Ondoy," Pacquiao gave this friendly advice: “Sana po huwag kayong makalimot magdasal sa Panginoon at malalampasan natin ang pagsubok na dinadanas natin sa buhay natin." Extending help to the needy is nothing new to the world’s top pound-for-pound fighter. His palatial house in General Santos City has been a sanctuary of people needing help on a daily basis. Pacquiao’s undying desire to help a lot of Filipino people has been cited by him as the main reason why he’s seeking public office in General Santos City before and in Sarangani next year. - GMANews.TV
