MRT halts ops due to Taytay transformer blast
By AIE BALAGTAS SEE, GMANews.TV
Thousands of EDSA commuters were affected Thursday afternoon when the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) temporarily stopped its operations due to insufficient power supplies. Laysa Blancaflor, MRT's public information officer, said operations were stopped at 2:15 p.m. as the power supplies in all their stations have been affected by Wednesday night's shutdown of a power transformer belonging to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in Taytay, Rizal. "Wala po kaming exact time kung kelan magre-resume (We don't know what time our operations will resume)," Blancaflor said. MRT line-3, the nationâs biggest overhead railway with 13 stations, stretches from Taft Avenue in Pasay City to North Avenue in Quezon City.
