Enrile: All systems go for Erap ‘proclamation rally’

It’s “all systems go" for former President Joseph Estrada to bare his ticket for the 2010 elections in a proclamation rally at his roots in Manila’s Tondo district on Wednesday. Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, a member of Estrada’s Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP), said Saturday Estrada will present Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay as his running mate. “Ia-announce ang kandidatura pati ang sino ang maging bise nya at ang mga kandidato niya for senator (Estrada will announce his intention to run, and introduce his running mate and his senatorial ticket)," Enrile said in an interview on dwIZ radio. “Proclamation rally ‘yan for the party (It will be a proclamation rally for the party)," he added. But Enrile indicated some of Estrada’s senatorial bets, including his own son Senate President Pro Tempore Jose “Jinggoy" Estrada, may not be around for the October 21 event. He said the younger Estrada will lead the Senate delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva October 19 to 21. Enrile said other PMP senatorial bets may include himself, Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim, Grace Poe, and Jose de Venecia III. Sen. Miriam Santiago, who ran for senator under the K-4 administration banner in 2004, will run as a “guest candidate," he added. “Halos kumpleto na except one, ang 12 slots yata (The senatorial lineup is almost complete, it just lacks one more)," Enrile said. - GMANews.TV
