Arroyo to visit Pampanga... again

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will visit her home province of Pampanga again on Monday, with Malacañang insisting it is part of her bid to bring government to the people and not her supposed intention to run for congresswoman in next year's elections. A Palace statement Sunday night said Mrs. Arroyo would visit Guagua town, which is also in the province's second legislative district, to distribute health insurance cards. It will her second visit to the province's second district in two days after visiting Floridablanca Sunday. Mrs. Arroyo's critics had accused her of planning to run for a congressional post in Pampanga while her allies in Congress push a shift to a parliamentary form of government. Under the parliamentary form of government, Mrs. Arroyo as a congresswoman can run for Prime Minister. Pampanga's second district is currently represented by her son, Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo, at the House of Representatives. Malacañang said the visit has nothing to do with Mrs. Arroyo's supposed intention to run for a congressional seat in the 2010 elections. "The President remains focused in bringing government service closer to the people by spearheading the delivery of various government social services to her constituents," the Palace statement said. Mrs. Arroyo's Monday visit to Pampanga will come after her visit to Bulacan where she will lead the distribution of relief goods to residents Sta. Maria town. While in Guagua, Mrs. Arroyo will "personally distribute" Philhealth ID cards to farmer-beneficiaries. She will also inspect a road improvement project before proceeding to barangays Sta. Maria and Balantakan in Lubao, her hometown, also to personally inspect the requested road improvement projects there. - GMANews.TV
