Co-leaders Aces, Kings gun for 3rd win in Phil Cup

Alaska and Barangay Ginebra try to break free from a four-way logjam on top of the KFC-PBA Philippine Cup as they take on separate opponents in another heavy triple header at the Astrodome. The Aces seek win no. 3 at the expense of the winless Coca-Cola Tigers at 7:30 p.m., while the injury-riddled Kings also aim to keep their immaculate record when they tackle the RP-Smart Gilas team in the 2:30 p.m. opener.

PBA Philippine Cup Games Friday Cuneta Astrodome 2:30 p.m. Ginebra (2-0) vs Gilas (0-2) 5:00 p.m. Purefoods (1-1) vs Barako Bull (1-1) 7:30 p.m. Coca-Cola (0-2) vs. Alaska (2-0)
Alaska and Ginebra share the lead with defending champion Talk ‘N Text and Sta. Lucia in the season-opening meet. Behind Willie Miller, the Aces have so far flashed superb form, beating Barako Bull and San Miguel Beer in their first two assignments. “We should contain Willie. He’s been playing superb basketball. He’s not only scoring but doing what’s needed to help the team win," said Tigers coach Kenneth Duremdes. Coca-Cola, a team considered as one which could pull off surprises in this season-opening tournament after acquiring big man Dennis Espino, has not quite lived up to the expectations. Worse, the Tigers lost to Barako Bull in their previous outing. Meanwhile, Purefoods is eyeing to bounce back from its defeat to Ginebra when it faces dangerous Barako Bull in the 5 p.m. encounter. - GMANews.TV
