Pinoys in KSA warned vs solicitations

Philippine officials in the Saudi Arabia have warned generous Filipino expatriates against donating to some inconspicuous groups soliciting donations for victims of tropical cyclones Ondoy and Pepeng.
In a statement, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh said it has not authorized any individual or group in the kingdom to solicit or collect donations.
The embassy has received reports that some groups have began asking Filipinos living and working in the kingdom, as well as corporations to donate for the victims of the twin calamities that hit the country.
“The embassy has not authorized any individual or group in Saudi Arabia to undertake solicitations for the victims of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng in the Philippines," it said.
With news of the twin devastation of Ondoy and Pepeng, overseas Filipino communities are pooling their resources to donate to storm-hit victims in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
