One week after the incident, Metro Manila police have yet to make arrests in a violent robbery attempt at the Greenbelt 5 mall in Makati City.
But Metro Manila Police spokesman Superintendent Rommel Miranda insisted Sunday they are still working on the case, with focus on “operational" aspects.
“Patuloy pa, di ako makapagbigay ng detalye kasi karamihan ng effort ng NCRPO at support unit is more on operational aspect (Our work is still ongoing. I cannot give details because most of the efforts of the National Capital Region Police Office are on the operational aspects)," Miranda said in an interview on dzBB radio.
He said they are also exerting all possible efforts to make sure last Sunday’s incident would not happen again.
Last week, suspected members of the Alvin Flores Gang gained entry to the Greenbelt 5 by posing as bomb squad policemen, then trying to rob a store selling Rolex watches.
One of the suspected robbers was killed in the ensuing encounter with pursuing lawmen.
Miranda said Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Jesus Verzosa already offered P500,000 as a reward for information leading to gang leader Alvin Flores.
Last week, the PNP Metro Manila police also held a training course for mall security personnel.
“We have doubled foot patrol in malls, banks, and commercial establishments," Miranda said.
Also, he said they are pushing better coordination with mall security to prevent similar incidents from happening again. - GMANews.TV
