Baby in the offing for future couple Mar, Korina

After tying the knot on Tuesday afternoon, the next goal of Senator Manuel “Mar" Roxas II and his future bride, veteran television and radio broadcaster Korina Sanchez, is to have a child. “Nangangarap na kaming magkaroon ng pamilya at anak (We want to have our own child) at the soonest possible time," Roxas told GMANews.TV in a phone interview. Roxas, the Liberal Party’s vice presidential candidate in next year’s elections, had earlier said they would have their honeymoon in northern Luzon. Asked how many children they want, Roxas, who has a 16-year-old son from a previous relationship, said in jest, “Hanggang sa kakayanin ng tuhod ko (As many as my knees can take)."

Some 2,000 guests are expected to flock Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City to witness the Roxas-Sanchez nuptial, which will have Sen. Benigno “Noynoy" Aquino, LP’s standard-bearer, as a principal sponsor. Invited to attend the wedding are personalities from politics and show business, as well as representatives from people’s groups and non-government organizations. Those who will not be able to get inside the Sto. Domingo Church will be given a chance to monitor the ceremonies through a giant television screen that will be set up outside the church. The UP Madrigal singers will be serenading the couple and their guests. Aside from Aquino, also standing as principal sponsors are Chief Justice Reynato Puno, former Senate President Jovito Salonga, businessman Eugenio Lopez III, former Red Cross chairperson Rosa Rosal, and veteran broadcaster Cecilia “Cheche" Lazaro, among others. Roxas’ 16-year old son Paolo Zaldarriaga will be the best man while Dang Cecilio-Palance will be the matron of honor. The son of actress-TV host Kris Aquino to cager James Yap, James A. Yap Jr., will be the ring bearer. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony as the couple decided to forego the lavish reception and instead donate part of the P3 million fund for it to organizations providing assistance to victims of cyclones “Ondoy" and “Pepeng." - GMANews.TV
